When studying our Functional Skills Maths Level 2, you’ll learn about:

The Functional Skills Maths Level 2 consists of the following 12 units and one final examination:

Unit 1: Handling Data

Unit 2: Interpreting Data from Frequency Tables.  Mean, Median and Mode

Unit 3: Common Measures

Unit 4: Ratio and Proportion

Unit 5: Fractions Decimals and Percentages

Unit 6: Measure, Shape and Space

Unit 7: Measuring Length and Distance with Metric or Imperial Units

Unit 8: Measuring Capacity with Metric or Imperial Units

Unit 9: Finding the Perimeter and Area of Squares and Rectangles

Unit 10: Finding the Volume of Cubes and Cuboids

Unit 11: Scales & Scale Diagrams

Unit 12: Trendlines

Examination: 1 hour 30 minutes exam

There are 12 units of study with all the information you need to succeed. You’ll undertake four practice papers that are to be submitted and marked by your tutor. Upon passing these practise papers and with the approval of your tutor, you will undertake one final examination.

At the end of this course, successful learners will be awarded a formal certificate of achievement by NCFE CACHE.  The training courses have been designed specifically to meet the needs of learners who prefer to study from home.

You have up to a year to complete this course. The guided and recommended study hours is 45. This is usually ample time for learners, even with full time jobs and other commitments. Don’t worry if you go over the year though. We can organise an extension to your course for a small fee, which also extends your tutor support.

Our course is delivered via our online learning platform as this provides learners with a dynamic and engaging experience. Don’t worry, if you prefer, you can print the learning materials yourself. The learning resources are in a range of different media including videos, e-books, and online quizzes.

Q: Tell me about my Tutor Support?

You will have access to your personal tutor, via email, who will mark your assignments and guide you through the course to help you get ready for your examinations. In addition, you will be supplied with a comprehensive Study Guide which will help you through the study and assessment process. This is especially useful if you haven’t studied for a while.

Q: What skills are needed to enrol onto this course?

You don’t need any prior skills in the subject area to start this course.

Q: What is included in the cost of my course?

We provide all the specially written learning materials you require to study this course at home. The course fee also includes tutor support for 12 months.

Q: Are there any additional costs?

You will receive everything you need to complete this course within the study pack we send to you.

Q: Is there a required reading list?

No, all of the study materials are supplied within your learning pack.

Q: Do I have to sit an exam?

No, this course is assessed by coursework alone.

Q: What if I live outside the UK?

That’s fine, this course can be studied anywhere and is completed by submitting Tutor marked assignments (TMAs).

Exam Fee and Resits Course price involves all learning materials, tutor support and practice tests. Additional costs required for extra practice papers (beyond initial 4, that tutors will have to mark), registration for examinations, and examination resits. See below:

If you choose to come to the CommitmentCare Training Academy in Romford, you can sit your examinations for just £95 – we’ll even throw in a free coffee to keep you going! However, if you wish to sit the exam at a centre closer to where you live, the price will be £145 plus the cost of mileage for an invigilator to come a supervise your progress.

Just to let you know, CommitmentCare Training Academy is only a 5 minute walk from Romford Stations

The cost for examination resits are offered on the same basis – £95 if you come to our college in Romford or £145 to resit at an additional centre.

Marking for additional practice papers: £50 for three additional practice papers.

Entry Requirements There are no entry requirements.
Final Exams Date There are no set examination dates. You can sit exams after you’ve passed your four practice papers.
